Statistics show most accidents involving abrasive wheels occur because of an unsafe system of work or operator error. There are obvious dangers of wheel breakage or contact with a running wheel but other, less obvious health risks, such as vibration, noise and dust.
This course is for workers using portable tools that have an abrasive or cutting wheel, commonly known as angle grinders, cut-off saws, disc cutters or consaws.
The course satisfies the requirements of relevant legislation and regulations in Ireland (Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act (General Application) (Amendment) 2016.
Following on from the successful completion of the theory element of this course, the candidate will then complete a short (15 minute) practical assessment.
